NFL fans applaud Draft pick’s mom for viral, truthful, and humorous TV moment, fans say ‘She ain’t lying’

Fans were amazed by the hilarious response given by the mother of an NFL draft prospect during a live broadcast.

The scene happened on Thursday night in Detroit, during the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft.

With the 17th overall pick in the draft, the Jacksonville Jaguars chose Brian Thomas Jr., a wide receiver out of LSU.

ESPN spoke with Brian Sr. and Sondra, Thomas’s parents, following the selection.

Reporter Laura Rutledge questioned Brian Sr. about his thoughts on the noteworthy occasion.

“It’s awesome. That’s all I can tell you. It’s awesome, it’s an awesome feeling,” he said to Rutledge.

The NFL mother was then questioned by Rutledge, “Sondra, how far has this family come?”

Sondra answered the question literally as a result of that.

“We came from Baton Rouge, Louisiana,” She responded.

After the awkward moment, Rutledge swiftly shifted the topic.

Meanwhile, Thomas’s mother’s response had NFL fans in fits of hysterics.

“Rutledge knew what she asked, she just wanted to let them know,” wrote another.

Another person remarked, “There’s something so wholesome about the response.”

A third said, “She ain’t lying.”

The Jaguars traded down six spots to select Thomas Jr. with their initial No. 17 overall pick.

Calvin Ridley, a free agent who left the Jacksonville Jaguars to join the division foe Tennessee Titans, will not be joining the 6-foot-3, 209-pound speedster.

With 17 receiving touchdowns last season, Thomas Jr. set a new FBS record.

Trevor Lawrence, the quarterback, will be leading the Jacksonville wide receiver group.

Additionally, Christian Kirk, Gabe Davis, and Zay Jones will be in the wide receiver group that includes Thomas Jr.
